Recreational Program Overview

The Eclipse Recreational program provides a fun, safe, instructional soccer experience for players of all skill levels (from novice upward), ages 3-18 (please refer to league age group chart below).  Tryouts are not required, and we form as many teams as possible.

  • Teams are coached by volunteers who have passed the state league’s (STYSA) background check criteria.

  • The number of teams formed is limited by how many parents will coach their child’s team: please consider volunteering to coach.

  • As required by STYSA, balanced teams are formed each season to ensure fair and even competition among similar age-group teams within the program.  As is possible, each team will be a blend of players at all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

  • All Recreational players shall receive a minimum of 50% play time during games, unless due to player’s illness/injury or for disciplinary reasons.

Registration Information

Players must register each season (Fall and Spring) online through our website (Register Here!).  Credit card payment (American Express, Discovery, MasterCard or Visa) is required at the time of registration.  Please email for instructions to pay by check, cash or money order.

On-Time Online Registration Periods (official announcement will be posted on homepage):*

  • Fall season: early May to early July (registrations will continue to be accepted after the on-time deadline, with applicable late fees)
  • Spring season: early November to early January (late fees apply after deadline)

*Late Registration may be held at the club’s discretion, with an additional $10 late fee applied.  Fees for late registrants  will not be prorated.  Late registrants will be placed on a waiting list (hopefully, only temporarily) and rostered to teams on a space available basis.  Any player we are unable to place due to space limitations will receive a full refund.

Proof of age documentation (see below) must be provided at the time of registration for all new players who were not registered Eclipse players in Fall 2007 and forward.

Proof of AgePer STYSA regulations, the Registrar is required to validate the date of birth for all players new to the club.  Valid proof of age documents must be government issued (e.g., birth certificates, passports, etc.).  Hospital certificates are NOT valid proof of age documents.  Documentation may be presented to the Registrar by:

A player WILL NOT be assigned to a team unless Eclipse has his/her proof of age on file.

Player AgeIt is club policy to assign players onto teams of their appropriate age groups based on date of birth.  Play-up requests will not be accommodated.  Please refer to posted age group chart.  Minimum participation age in the Eclipse Recreational program is 3 years of age by December 31 of the Fall season.

Uniforms:  Registration fee covers the cost of the game-day team jersey, shorts, and socks.  Players will need to separately purchase shin guards, cleats and an appropriately sized ball (see chart below).  During the week prior to the first game, team coaches will deliver uniforms to players/parents at practice.

With the current uniform style, youth jerseys run small, and adult jerseys are slim fit.  Be sure to order accordingly as uniform items are non-returnable and non-exchangeable.  To assure best fit, visit the Soccer4All store in Missouri City (FM 1092/Murphy Road, just south of Lexington Blvd.) and ask to try on the Eclipse Recreational uniform samples.

Refunds:  Players who voluntarily withdraw IN WRITING to the Registrar, PRIOR TO JULY 24 (Fall season) or JANUARY 21 (Spring season) will be eligible for a refund of registration fees paid, LESS a $10 processing fee; late fees are non-refundable.  Refunds requested after the dates listed above (but prior to games beginning for the season) will receive a refund of registration fees paid, LESS actual expenses incurred for the player at the time the Registrar receives the refund request.  No refunds are given after games begin except for players waitlisted due to availability.

Volunteer Registration:  Eclipse Recreational teams are coached by volunteers, so please consider coaching your child’s team.  All individuals volunteering to serve as Coach, Assistant Coach or Team Mom/Dad for any team must register online as a volunteer (Register Here! > Volunteers).  As part of the registration process, volunteers 17 and older must agree to a background check conducted by the KidSafe program through South Texas Youth Soccer.  If volunteer applications are approved, Adult Participation Passes (APPs) are issued and must be properly prepared and displayed at practices/games.

Eclipse Policy Regarding Requests

Because of the complexities and many factors involved in creating balanced teams to ensure even competition for 1,500 players within the Recreational program, Eclipse is unable to accept individual requests for specific players, coaches or teams.

Further, Eclipse is unable to accommodate requests for specific practice days/times; however, the Club will work with individual head coaches to coordinate practice times suitable to their personal availability. Players’ schedules must be flexible to accommodate their team’s assigned practice schedule.

All assignments are final and not subject to appeal or change. Due to time/resource limitations and constraints, Eclipse will not be able to reply to appeals regarding team assignments.

Season Timelines

  • Fall season: Coaches will contact players in mid- to late August.
  • Spring season: Coaches will contact players in mid-February.


  • Fall season: Practices begin mid- to late August (based on coach availability).
  • Spring season: Practices begin mid- to late February (based on coach availability).

First Colony (FC)/Sugar Land team practice locations: U4/5/6 teams will practice at Settlers Way Park.  U8 to U12 teams may be assigned practices at either Settlers Way Park or Lost Creek Park.  U14-and-up Recreational teams may be assigned practice at Settlers Way ParkLost Creek Park or Community Park.

Sienna team practice locations: U4 through U12 teams will be assigned practices at Camp Sienna fields, and U14-and-up teams will practice at Camp Sienna or Community Park.

All practice assignments/locations are at the Club’s discretion and based on field availability.

  • After players have been assigned to teams, coaches will inform players of specific schedule/location.
  • Practices are held on weekdays, with start times generally between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., as scheduled by the Club.
  • U14-and-up teams may be assigned 7:30 p.m. start times, depending on field availability.

If a family has multiple children participating in the program, there is potential they may end up practicing on different fields at the same time and/or on different days altogether.  If your child needs to practice on a specific day(s) or time slot, please consider head coaching your child’s team — contact one of our Recreational Commissioners for more details.  Otherwise, we cannot accommodate requests for specific practice days/times (see Request Policy above).


Schedules will be posted on the club website (Recreational > Game Schedules) during the week prior to Game 1.

U8 to U14 boys and girls teams:  games may be scheduled at Lost Creek Park, Community Park or Camp Sienna.

U4/5/6 Coed: games will be played at the same park/location where their practices are held.

U15-and-up boys and girls teams: 50% are home games played at an Eclipse field, and 50% are away games at HYSA member club venues.

Start times for Saturday games (U4 through U14) can range anywhere between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

  • Fall season:  Games begin the 2nd weekend of September (weekend after Labor Day) and end the weekend before Thanksgiving week/break (dependent upon the number of teams in each age group).
  • Spring season:  Games begin the 1st weekend of March and end mid- to late May (weekend before Memorial Day weekend).  Games are not held the weekends of Spring Break week.

Team Picture Day:  Fall season only – dates TBD.  Coaches will inform players of exact date/time.
